Rufous Whistler - River Gum Tree Single Tour
Immerse yourself in the contemporary folk goodness of Rufous Whistler with the release of the debut single, "River Gum Tree," accompanied by a 7-date East Coast Australian tour.
Rufous Whistler is the moniker of folkster and songwriter Vinny Russell, who has roots in Northeast Victoria (Wiradjuri Country). Known for his campfire-glow voice and instrumental skill, Russell (guitar, bouzouki, mandolin) steps into the limelight as Rufous Whistler, where his songwriting comes to life on this debut release and tour with the help of a talented ensemble of friends.
Rufous Whistler will be performing at Side B Vinyl Bar as a duo, joined by Lucy
McKenzie-McHarg (fiddle, mandolin). You can expect rich harmonies, soul-stirring melodies, and compelling storytelling. Experience the intimate, heartfelt performances of Rufous Whistler in a series of cozy, personal settings this September.

Emily-Rose Solo Concert
Sunday 24th November
Music starts 6pm
Tickets $22 on Humanitix
Emily-Rose Sharkova is one of Australia’s most vivacious musical chameleons. Compared to the likes of Norah Jones and Joni Mitchell, her songs and soundscapes are a kaleidoscope dream of contemporary folk, where songwriting meets world jazz. The listener is bathed in intricate, relevant lyrics of weight and beauty, underpinned by profound but constantly fresh acoustic and electric worlds.
Also known as front woman of Emily-Rose & The Wild Things, half of songwriting duo Little Clouds, global prog fusion outfit Shark & Fox and a member of chamber folk group The Good Behaviours, her solo sets weave her voice together with piano, synths and accordion.
Most recently a finalist for the prestigious Art Music Awards for Best Jazz Work, and an ARIA nominated musician, Emily-Rose’s music is always thoughtful and highly crafted.
To celebrate the release of her album 'Upon These Open Skins' on double vinyl and to farewell her before she tours Canada in August, Emily-Rose is embarking on a solo tour of intimate concerts.
Come and catch her in the cosy intimacy of the Side B space at the top of the Blue Mountains, in Blackheath
